I think I'll post A Day In The Life as well!
* Woke up with my grandmother banging on the door at about 11:30 * Got up and did whatever it was she needed [do not remember] * Had tea and broke fast * Messed around online * Got in the shower * Had afternoon tea * Went to family get together * Supped at get together * Sat around talking to family * Listened to people sing * Watched them dance * Had a great time * Got online to talk to Kim * Posted this. In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:8:22 PM
One day I hope to speak interestingly, if not authoritatively, on some subject or another. Until then I'll fascinate you with A Day In The Life...
* Was woken up by little brothers wanting to play xbox in the very room I was sleeping (rec room); this at approx 8.15 * Cursed the following gods: Of Sleep, Of Late Nights, Of Little Brothers * Remembered I had to work * Cursed god of Work * Showered, got dressed * Chatted with Leah * Watched the wrong side of the sunset out the living room window while eating a bowl of Honey-Nut Cheerios * Got to take the van to work * Worked * Like a dog * Recieved 1st pay cheque * Drove home * Disrupted family luncheon with arrival * Ate * Was thrown some new jeans from general direction of mother (who loves me and wants me to look respectable) * Biked to cinemas and saw Terminator 3 * Laughed, cried, was moved; also pissed off at the ending * Decided not to curse the god of Movies * Dropped off resume at McDonald's * Cashed cheque * Read Hemmingway upon arrival home * Ate supper * Crashed on couch * Decided it would be a hoot to write out the events of my day in bullet form on word for word In Memory of Petey [Dave] Time:7:47 PM Friday, September 19, 2003
Yarrrr! Damn yer eyes, he be tellin' foul blasphemies!
Avast, ye faux-corsair! Any self respectin pirate knows, dat real GROG is as follows: kerosene propylene glycol suplhuric acid artificial sweeteners red dye no2 rum acetone battery acid scumm axle grease and/or pepperoni. There ye have it, ye salty rapscallions! In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:10:40 PM
Avast ye! A pox upon all who dare not celebrate this great occasion. I've posted exerpts from some old seadog songs to entertain ye all, as well as a recipe for ye'r own grog:
Grog 1 shot rum 1 teaspoon sugar (preferably superfine) Squeeze of lime juice Cinnamon stick Boiling water Stir all ingredients, adding enough boiling water to fill mug or glass. Here's to the Grog I've got a coat and a nobby, nobby coat I've got a coat a-seen a lot of rough weather For the sides are near wore out and the back is flying about And the lining's looking out for better weather Here's to the grog, boys, the jolly, jolly grog Here's to the rum and tobacco I've a-spent all my tin with the lassies drinking gin And to cross the briny ocean I must wander Blow the Man Down Come all ye young fellows that follow the sea, to my way haye, blow the man down, And pray pay attention and listen to me, Give me some time to blow the man down. I'm a deep water sailor just in from Hong Kong, to my way haye, blow the man down, if you'll give me some grog, I'll sing you a song, Give me some time to blow the man down. Rant and Roar We'll rant and we'll roar like true Newfoundlanders We'll rant and we'll roar on deck and below Until we see bottom inside the two sunkers When straight through the Channel to Toslow we'll go. I'm a son of a sea cook, and a cook in a trader I can dance, I can sing, I can reef the mainboom I can handle a jigger, and cuts a big figure Whenever I gets in a boat's standing room. Word for Word will be celebrating tomorrow's festivities by talking like a pirate. At least this faction will be. And tell all your friends who think that its on the 29th to screw it, they have it wrong, its the 19th. I've heard some conflicting reports in regard to the date, but the official documentation can be found here. Yarr!
The other day my dad got out the new(est) Weird Al CD, Poodle Hat from the library and I must say I'm quite enjoying it. Especially the rip off of Avril's Complicated, and Nellie's Hot in Here as well as a few of Yankovic's own creations, such as Hardware Store, and Why Does This Always Happen to Me?, wherein the singer laments the miniscule tragedies in life even when faced against the greater picture of mass carnage and destruction. It's golden, baby. In Memory of Petey [Dave] Time:4:24 PM
So tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. To say the least, I am ecstatic. I hope that you all spread the word as much as you can tomorrow and get as many people as you can to start observing this wonderful un-official holiday.
In other news, I've been listening to Beck so much the past couple of days. His music is just so powerful, and mellow, chill out music. I can't wait to listen to him, driving/riding around the hills of New York and Vermont and what have you. I can't wait to be home, it's so lovely there in the fall. But I think I'll save such things for my personal blog. So in closing, my Love, know that it will not be long before I am returned unto you, and know that when I return we will frolick once again in the fields and slip away to those secret places where you do make my heart dance as a flame. And listen to Beck, all of you. i'm tired of fighting..fighting for a lost cause In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:3:35 PM
John left, me right.
Everyone: awwwww ![]() [Dave] Time:10:27 AM Tuesday, September 16, 2003
Ok, I confess, I lied. I've been listening to gregorian chant a lot these days. All the way to work, and while I fall asleep. When John was here he would have killed me... twice... if I'd have listened to it that much, so there's one good thing about you being gone. But aside from that and peeing on your stuff I can't think of anything else.
I really felt the arrival of fall today, and everything that comes with it. In Memory of Petey [Dave] Time:9:06 PM
I got Beck's latest album [from 2002], Sea Change. It's really great, I'm totally in love with it - girly pink album cover and all.
To quote a review, "...one of the greatest late-night, brokenhearted albums in pop." Pop is a strong word for it. If it's 'pop' then so is Coldplay and any other band that isn't a particular form of Rock. I just felt I had to spread the word. also, entethwatevartion is all screwy with comments lately.. the sun doesn't shine, even when it's day In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:7:35 PM
Well, I'll be a rapscallion! I think part of my problem has been music. Music affects me a lot sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't affect me at all. But I know that since I've started listening to the music I used to listen to - as opposed of not hardly listening to any music at all - I've been thinking more humour and more like my old self. I'm able to sit behind a keyboard and words flow out onto it. Anyway. Right now I'm actually listening to the Zephyr Song - thanks to dave. And I have it on loop, too!

I haven't been listening to anything these days. Nothing. I swear I must have reached Nirvana or something from listening to all that Michelle Branch.
And just FYI folks, the emblem in the top left-hand corner of Steve's personal blog means that he has rebuked his fatherland and embraced the north. He has chosen to stand as be counted as one of us, as a Canadian. Word for Word is no longer international. God save the Queen! In Memory of Petey [Dave] Time:5:54 PM
Well, in an attempt to get in touch with my lost past, I have started posting more on my personal blog. This doesn't mean I won't be posting much here, as my personal blog is more about me whereas this place is more not about me. Anyway, I was just going to post and let you all know I am a lazy bum who sleeps until noon these days because I've been staying up so late. I've been reading a lot of poetry though, so that's always good.
Also today I am listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd. I feel so cool now. In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:12:43 PM Sunday, September 14, 2003
