Hmm...blogger's being weird.
Anyway, I was posting to say that today I've been listening to Kings of Leon a lot. Sure, they're just a rehash of all of the 1970s rock bands from the southern united states - or the bands that were so aligned to sound as such - but they're doing a beautiful job of completely rehashing the 70s. Rock on, Kings of Leon. In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:11:13 AM Friday, January 09, 2004
So just a little bit ago, I saw the Great Lost Ashlee online. Now I'm all chagrinned - she logged off when I said hello.
Also I've got The Strokes cranked up. Rock on. In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:5:38 PM
My dad got back from Iraq yesterday, for a couple of weeks only, though. I am bemoaning the pain of not having my speakers set up cos we moved the house all around.
I have been digging Travis lately. Retro, and the latest. The Man Who will always be the best album ever. Also I've been forcing down the Jet to try and lift my sunken spirits. Elsewise, it's all Bright Eyes for me, which completely counter-acts the whole lifting spirits thing. Also, I got the first volume of the FLCL manga from my beloved. It is so amazingly beautiful, if you are a fan of Japanese things. And I am. I'm probably going to watch the EE of TTT tonight, probably. I don't know yet. Also, I'm getting into Morrowind again. Yay! Morrowind is magic. In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:3:07 PM Thursday, January 08, 2004
I feel like word for word has really gone down hill. This isn't so much, however, the fault of we-the-posters. I feel it is a reaction to the poor feedback.
In a way, I suppose, the poor feedack is a reaction to the low post quality, one could - in deed - argue. I feel this is wrong, however, as the posts began to decline after the readership stopped talking. We then began to resort to foolish gags and petty mockeries. It's time word for word be returned to it's former glory. I'll do so later. ;) In Memory of Petey [Steven] Time:9:04 PM Tuesday, January 06, 2004
"What church does your dad... um... work for?" asked my guitar teacher.
"Bible Presbyterian," I replied. "So, what is that? There are a lot of churches and I'm not sure which is which." "Yeah, well we're sort of like old-school conservative christian." "So I'd be going to hell?" "Oh yeah." We laughed. "Okay, well I just think its good to know, you know." "Yeah." He started to tune up. "Actually, you know, your hair..." I said. "What, my hair is scruffy?" "No, its short and conservative, sort of. That might get you in." "To heaven?" "Yeah." "Yeah, I was thinking of growing it down to my ankles though." "Then you'd be going to hell for sure." "Right, okay." "In a handbasket," I added. We laughed. "My uncle is very religious. He gives like three-quarters of his income to the church, and all that, and--" "Woah," I interrupted. "Yeah, so I was at his house once for dinner and he figured I wasn't going to heaven." "Awkward," I chortled. "Yeah, really awkward." He imitated of the high-pitched whine of a child: "'You mean Uncle Lee isn't going to heaven?'" We both laughed. "But its good to know where people are at, you know, because it is important, though I'm not religious at all. And you don't want to offend anyone." "Especially the Jews." "Damn straight." I am gradually learning that good writing comes, not so much from raw knowledge, as knowledge gained with experience. In this way imagination becomes a seasoning, not a main course. You shouldn't have to write about how you feel, you should impact that feeling to your readers so that they can share in it. Dialogue is more important than description. Atmosphere is essential. All of these things I am learning, but very slowly.
Sister Sue-Anne Sivley, this madness must end! In Memory of Petey [Dave] Time:11:47 AM Sunday, January 04, 2004
